Cruelty-Free Holiday Gift Guide

Holiday Gift Guide

A lot of people would love to buy cruelty-free, but don't know where to start. One of my biggest tips for shopping cruelty-free is to shop local. Smaller businesses likely use ethical ingredients, and many times they are environmentally conscious. Plus, it is usually easy to reach out to the maker of the product to find out their process and where they acquire their ingredients and materials. Along with shopping local, you can also type in search terms to your favourite online shops, such as, "vegan" or "cruelty-free" to see if they have anything to offer. I've compiled a list of some of my favourite cruelty-free gifts that I've come across, and I hope you love everything as much as I do!

Since not everyone lives in the same city as me, all of the items I've included in the gift guide can be purchased online; however, I've created a bonus local gift guide for those in the Windsor area - scroll to the bottom of this post to find it!

Cruelty-free Gifts

1. Urban Expressions Arabella Crossbody Bag, $65

This vegan leather bag is versatile (you can remove the strap), and features unique embroidery. Beautiful, yet functional. It also comes in a bunch of different colours that are all equally as beautiful. This bag is definitely on my own list.

2. Matt & Nat Blair Feather Toiletry Bag, $55

This toiletry bag is the perfect unisex gift. It's also one of those items that's great to pick up to have just in case you've forgotten someone, or want to add something else to a gift at the last minute. Matt & Nat is entirely vegan, as well as environmentally conscious - all of their linings are made out of 100% recycled plastic bottles. Their stuff can be a little pricey, but it's definitely worth the splurge. You'll feel great knowing your gift is from a brand with such great values. I've recently seen some of their wallets at Winners, so make sure to check there (or TJ Maxx, Marshalls, etc).

3. MOVMT Vegan Cabo Sneaker, $75

Grab these super cute, slightly Yeezy-looking, sneakers from Free People! They feature a specially cushioned footbed for great support and the sock liner is a sport-breathable stretchy Lycra material. This would make a great gift for someone who is always on the go.

4. Lush Little Snow Fairy Wrapped Gift Set, $19.95

Lush always has such a great selection of cruelty-free gifts, with many of them being vegan. I love that their gift sets are already wrapped with super cute packaging. One of my favourites is the Little Snow Fairy set - it smells like candy! With a range of price points, it's easy to find gifts for a ton of people on your list. And if you're like me, you'll probably come home with a few things for yourself :)

5. Jack Black Jet Set Traveler, $44

This three-piece set of flight-sized items includes a facial cleaner, shave lather, and a moisturizer. Make sure to pick up one of their lips balms to go with it - I use it all the time and it works so well.

6. Tarte Skin Win Hydrating Skincare Set$23

Tarte is one of my favourite beauty brands. They're vegan and cruelty-free, but they also just have really great products. This gift set is perfect for the skincare lover in your life. It features a moisturizer, tinted lip balm, facial mist, and a facial oil. Gift sets like these are also great to pick up if you need a bunch of tiny gifts or stocking stuffers - you can easily split them up to really get your money's worth.

7. Fluff Pet Care Snoot Cream, $11

I feel super cheesy including my own product, but I worked really hard to make sure everything in my line of pet care products is vegan, and obviously cruelty-free. This cream is like an all purpose balm, and can be used on your dog's dry nose, dry paws, etc. Made with lavender essential oil, it can help to calm down anxious dogs. It can also be used as a lip balm for the humans in your life.

8. Wholesome Culture "Save Lives, Eat Plants" Shirt, $29

I bought this shirt last spring and love it. It's super soft and cute. I don't wear a lot of veg statement pieces (personal preference), so I like that this one gets the point across without being too pushy. Another website that has really great animal-related clothing is Arm the Animals. I've ordered from them before, and the quality is great.

9. Lulu*s Up on a Tuesday Black Vegan Leather Jacket, $69

Lulu*s has a great selection of vegan items, but I really love this faux leather jacket. The reviews are super helpful for determining the sizing, as most people include their height, weight, and measurements. Most people recommend to size up in this one!

10. World Wildlife Foundation Adoption (Stuffed Animal and Certificate), $40+

I asked for this a few Christmas' ago, and my lovely friend, Steph, was sweet enough to get it for me. I love looking at my little wolf and knowing that it helped out some wildlife. You can choose which animal to "adopt," and you will receive a wildlife plush (stuffed animal), a personalized adoption certificate, a species poster and information pamphlet, and a reusable gift bag.

Hopefully you found some gifts for the loved ones in your life! Or maybe even something to ask your friends and family for for yourself. As promised, I will also be including a local shopping guide for those in the Windsor, ON area. We have so many amazing local shops, but we also have a ton of local makers. I've featured a couple below. Please leave your favourite local maker or shop in the comments.
