Hello again! I hope everyone is doing okay after that crazy storm. Our basement flooded really badly, but everyone is safe :) Today's blog post is about the amazing Airbnb farm that Warren and I went to for our seven year anniversary. We always go away for it, but this year we decided we wanted to take the dogs with us. I found us a place just outside of Toronto that had horses, sheep, chickens, and pigs! It was a dream.
The accommodations were a horse stable with a loft overhead. It was full of antiques and even had a barn cat (who was the most amazing cat, ever). When we arrived, their cute little Blue Heeler, Truman, came running over to greet us. He rounded us up and then went on his way. Our hosts then gave us a tour of the farm, which I absolutely loved.
The dogs were free to roam around, and we barely even had to use their leashes as there was so much property. In the nine months since we've had Maggie, we have never seen her look so happy. She was running around like crazy. Stella had a great time too, and even jumped in the pond. We went exploring with them every day, and they genuinely looked like they were smiling. At one point, a horse named Raider escaped by knocking over his fence, and he came right over to where we were sitting. Maggie knew to run, but Stella just sniffed him. It was the only time Stella has ever looked small standing next to another animal. Raider simply went over to a pile of hay and began eating it. It was the best.
We took the dogs on a 4km hike through Hockley Valley Provincial Nature Reserve, which turned out to be way more intense than anticipated. It was absolutely stunning, though, and definitely worth the effort. I only fell twice, which is pretty normal (see post about me breaking my ankle). It had little streams and beautiful foliage. On our way out we got a little lost, and it pretty much turned into a 5km hike. The dogs somehow still had energy when we were done. I couldn't believe it - especially since Maggie is a senior pup!
Overall, the trip was so great and the dogs had an amazing time. We were worried about them misbehaving, but they were little angels. I can't wait to go back to this farm, and to try staying at other ones in the future¸. I have always wanted a farm (and will eventually have one), so I really appreciated being able to see one in action. Send me a message if you'd like to know the particular farm we stayed at! The rates were very reasonable and the hosts were super friendly.

Comment below something fun you've done this summer! Also, if you've ever stayed at an Airbnb farm, let me know so I can check it out.
